Theresa Durham is a new homeowner of a Home HeadQuarters build. She recently purchased the home, and Governor Kathy Hochul came out to Syracuse to give the keys to the first-time homebuyer. The home is the first to be sold from the AHOP new builds that are continuing construction, and more will become available for purchase as the year goes on.
The former McKinney Manor resident has purchased a remodeled Home HeadQuarters home on South Salina St.. Whitaker, 73, moved to Syracuse nine years ago and felt fortunate to find a place for her and her three grandchildren to live. With McKinney Manor closing, residents have until June 10 to decide on their housing situation. Whitaker decided to take the First-Time Homebuyer Education Course offered by Home Headquarters. She started in December, and five months later, she is a homeowner with a place to call her own.
NeighborWorks America, a congressionally chartered and funded nonpartisan nonprofit that helps supports Home HeadQuarters and other nonprofits throughout the U.S. with affordable housing efforts, recently announced that HHQ was the leading home improvement lender in their member network last year.
Home HeadQuarters is hosting workshops for Binghamton homeowners who live in zip codes 13904 and 13905 who may be eligible to take advantage of two NYS Major Home Repair programs: T-HIP and Resilient Retrofits. Syracuse, N.Y. – State housing officials today awarded $7 million to help landlords fix up vacant apartments in Syracuse and Onondaga County and get them rented to low- and moderate-income tenants.
Home HeadQuarters will administer $5 million of the state money, targeting vacant apartment units in the city of Syracuse.
